Reclaim your Gift Aid

You may be missing out on hundreds of pounds every year if you are a higher rate taxpayer

Steps to reclaiming your tax

Five quick steps to reclaiming your overpaid tax

We believe that reclaiming overpaid tax is an important aspect of faithfully stewarding the resources entrusted to us. Our job is simply to make that process as straightforward as possible.

Step 1
Gather your donation information

First up, you’ll need to know exactly how much you donated to registered charities for each of the tax years you are reclaiming tax for. If you have not already claimed tax for those years, you can back-claim for up to the last 4 years of overpaid tax.

If you are reclaiming tax on donations of more than £8,000, you’ll need to provide a little more detail.

Step 2
Complete the Pledgewise form

Once you have a clear picture of your charitable donations, you’re ready to complete the Pledgewise form from this website. Payment will be taken at the end of the process, prior to submission.

Step 3
Wait a few days for your letter to arrive

Once we’ve received your submission, we prepare a custom tax reclaim letter for you to send to HMRC. You’ll receive it in the post within a few days.

Step 4
Sign and send your letter

After receiving your letter, read the letter to ensure it’s accurate. At the end of the day this is a letter from to HMRC, so please read it carefully.

Then, just sign the letter, fold and place it in the envelope provided, pop a stamp on it and stick it in the post.

Step 5
Await receipt of your cheque or tax code change

From here on out, it’s down to how long HMRC takes to process your request. This can take from a few weeks to several months, so please do not be surprised if it requires a little patience.
