We're a group of mates who are part of the same church family in Southampton who have enjoyed friendship and growing in our walk with Christ together over many years. More recently, we've begun exploring ways in which we can build something using our combined talents which helps people practically in the outworking of their faith.

Now, it’s worth being upfront. Roll the clock back to mid-2025 and (if we’re honest) several of us weren’t even aware that we’d been overpaying tax on charitable giving, and we certainly hadn’t claimed it back. Needless to say, that was quickly rectified! But we realised that HMRC’s Self Assessment process was a pretty complex and lengthy process which, for many people (ourselves included), was a huge source of friction.

Now when your mate is a tax advisor, you’ve got someone who can walk you through the process. But what about those who don’t?

That’s when we came up with the idea for Pledgewise. A simple service that takes the complexity, time and anxiety out of reclaiming this specific type of overpaid tax.

Here’s a picture of us. From left to right it’s Tom, Matt, Ben, Duncan and Jamie. We’re the Pledgewise team. We've got combined experience in tax advice, IT and software engineering, which we've put together to help our customers overcome some of their anxiety around stewarding their resources.
